Education Services
Only through education can the goals of the TCAA be reached. The organization was formed as a non-profit educational co-op. The programs and services offered by the TCAA are funded through private donation and the annual TCAA show and sale. The TCAA offers a variety of educational programs to developing gear makers as well as the public at large.
For the developing gear maker, the TCAA offers group classes, master seminars, and individual apprenticeships in one of four disciplines: bit and spur making, saddle making, silversmithing, and rawhide braiding. An application form is provided for admission to our Scholarship Program and financial assistance is also available via the Nicola Education Fund.
For both craftsman and the general public the TCAA is actively engaged in research and publication of historic and technical information related to western gear making. Through a partnership with the in Oklahoma City, the TCAA presents to the public each September, an annual show, sale and educational seminar. This is a wonderful opportunity for the public to see in person the finest cowboy gear being made today, learn more about western gear making, and perhaps even add a piece to your own collection.
